Mud Pond Banks

The sandy shores of the Mud Pond.

Sunlit finally took a break, sitting and panting on the Mud Bank shore.

"Well, watchoo doin' here?" A sweet yet stupid voice came. "Aren't you friends with them other two?" A koala was in a tree, wondering what she was doing here.

Sunlit turned human and growled at the koala.
"Was is a better word"

"What happened?" He asked, knowing he probably would get attacked.

"Nothing you need to know" she muttered, turning her back to him, looking out across the water.

"Well, does he?" He said, cimbng up the tree. Ranger ran through the forest.

Sunlit growled under her breath, silently scrambling up a difrent nearby tree.

Ranger got right to the point. "Why didn't you come back?"

"'Cause" she said out flatly, staying in her tree.

"Really. Why? I don't see any reason. Do you think we don't want you there? Beacause that's not it. We do want you to be with us. Why wouldn't we? Were all the same. Us outcasts have to stick together."

"He has a point Sun." Saya called, walking to the bottom of the tree she was in.

Sunlit climbed further into the tree, almost slipping a few times. Now she was on thinner branches, that if Ranger or Saya tried to ge on, would snap.
"I'm a kid! If i cant take care of myself im a burden to others. And outcasts arnt really outcasts if they have a group." she called down.

"How do you know you cant? Besides, any loner found in this land is automaticaly eithe dead or about to be drafted onto one of those armies. And I don't think we will get much pardon from the armies anyway."

"Its called avoid them" Sunlit grumbled under her breath, sitting on a sturdy branch, getting comfortable.

"For how long? I'll betcha those canines have radars in those squadron fighters. If I know anything about futuristic technolegy from watching to many re-runs of Star Wars, those radars have the power that they can pick up a fly. That means its only a matter of time before their ground vehicles have radar. Then their troops. Sonner or later, you will be found. We will all be found. That's why we stay together."

"What would it help us if we are all found?!" Sunlit called down, "If you dont want to be caught, leave outside the territories."

"Because then we have a fighting chance!" Ranger replied, then thought a minute. "Remember when your grandparents tell you about that war, the battle of Lexington and Concord? One army had several times more troops than the other, and the smaller army won. See? Strength in numbers. We're part human. Were smarter than they are. We can outsmart them. Even though they have thoer radars, powers, and all that, we can survive if we stick together!"

NRR: *american flag shows up behind Ranger, and crowds cheer*

Saya had her doubts, but didnt show it.
"Sunlit! If we dont stick together, they'll end up taking us one by one. They do that, any more like us that come here for refuge are going to meet the same fate unless we stick together to make it to the fuutre."

"I never met my grandparents!" she muttered angrily to Ranger.

Cinna roosted beside Sunlit. "Whats going on?" She asked in a quiet tone, so only Sun would hear.

"Me thinkin about leaving the group" Sunlit explained, her tone even.

"If you did or not, that's what happened." Ranger narrowed his look and Sun. "Saya is right. It sounds like its the most cruel thing they can do, but it isn't, but Saya is right."

Cinna nodded, as if she understood. "Why are you, might one ask?"
